Apple today announced that owners of the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch will be able to download and install iOS version 4.2. The new system software includes several new features for the iPhone, including AirPlay, which lets the iPhone stream multimedia content wirelessly to devices such as the Apple TV or Airport Express. iOS 4.2 also includes AirPrint, which allows uses to print documents and other items from their handset directly to properly configured printers on their network. Last, Apple is now offering the Find my iPhone feature for free. Find My iPhone lets users locate a lost or stolen iPhone via online tools. This feature previously required a $100-per-year MobileMe account. The software is a free download. Apple didn't say exactly when it would be available from iTunes.

Not falling for this again....

3GS, 32GB, I think that this will be my first and last Iphone.... this update still didnt provide some very basic things, i.e. adjust vibrate length, more flexibility in customizing, etc. I have figured out that the Iphone by itself is not a great phone; it's the apps that make it a decent phone due to all the developers efforts.... not Apple's.... Apple just seems to get in the way. I think I will be severing the contract with at&t and heading to vzw and droid. Sorry Apple.... for me the hype doesn't measure up anymore.....
Adjustable vibration length? Don't you think you are a little too PICKY!!!!

If you don't like the iPhone, thats fine.

But you don't have to cancel your contract to get a "droid". Save yourself the $200.00 cancellation fee, and the cost of an Android device on VZW, AND the cost of an activation fee (totaling about 435.00 o...

no custom text ringers yet.

You can assign text tones to specific contacts individually though.

3G Model

I'll be interested to find out if this slows the 3g 8 gig phones down. I'm still running 3.xx due to all the slow down issues reported.
Most of the compatability issues weren't actually issues with the 3G's, only the 3GS. The big problem was software that wasn't compatable with the 3GS, being downloaded. There's propersoftware filtering for the 2G and 3G phones though, which is what w...

When i was running 3.xx my 3G FLEW. very fast. When i upgraded to 4.0 it got extremely S L O W and then with the update to 4.1 it improved to average speeds again. 4.0 to 4.1 was a big improvement IMO.
4.2 will be basically the same as 4.1 just a few enhancements more than likely, but should worth rather quickly like 4.1 instead of 4.0 and 4.0.1 as that slowed the 3G to a crawl.
If you still have a 3G, you need to get a new phone! lol

It's just getting old thats all.
