Research In Motion today provided an update to its Facebook application for the BlackBerry platform. Registered users of RIM's BlackBerry Beta Zone can download Facebook 1.9, which offers a number of new features. The biggest improvement is the addition of a dedicated inbox for Facebook messages. Users can retrieve Facebook emails from a separate inbox placed on the home screen or from the Facebook app itself. Facebook 1.9 also adds a better search tool for finding friends and pages, and also now integrates with Universal Search in BlackBerry 6. BlackBerry 1.9 also has a refreshed friends list and a refreshed navigation bar. The beta is free to testers, and RIM asks beta testers to provide feedback before offering the software to the general public.
