HTC and TomTom Team Up on Custom Maps Product

HTC and TomTom today announced a new partnership in order to bring better mapping and navigation software to HTC's phones. HTC phones will now come with HTC Locations, which is mapping and navigation software provided by TomTom. According to TomTom, the software is cached on the device, and not delivered via the mobile web. Users who want to use the navigation feature will have to purchase and download separate software from HTC and TomTom. HTC Locations will first be available on the HTC Desire HD and Desire Z.

google navigation works fine unless this is true gps like the garmin phone for T-Mobile
This is true gps using map data that is stored on the phone, and not delivered from the web when needed. There are pros and cons to both approaches. Having the data stored on the phone means you have good mapping data regardless of your cell phone c...
