Amazon to Launch Android App Store
According to the Wall Street Journal, Amazon is ready to unveil its own storefront for Android applications. The Journal says Amazon's store will offer the same 70/30 revenue split with developers offered by Google, and that the apps can't be priced lower through other app outlets. Apps will need to appear within the Amazon app outlet within two weeks of an app's debut in other app outlets. Developers who've spoken to Amazon said they haven't been told what the application storefront will be called, nor when it will launch. Such a storefront would compete directly against Google's Android Market.
Amazon Makes Mobile Wallet App Available
Amazon recently released a mobile wallet application for Android-based smartphones. The app, which Amazon has labeled a beta, lets people store gift cards, loyalty cards, and membership cards, which can be scanned or typed directly into the app.
Amazon Adds Alexa AI to iPhone Shopping App
Amazon today made Alexa, its artificial intelligence, available to a much wider selection of devices by adding Alexa to its iOS mobile shopping application. Now any iPhone with the Amazon app aboard has access to Alexa, allowing people to search for and buy goods simply by asking Alexa for it.

Amazon today updated its Amazon Music app for Android devices and added several highly-requested features. Users can now download Prime Music tracks to a memory card for offline playback, rather than store the tracks directly on the handset.
Amazon Underground Heralds 'Actually Free Apps'
Amazon today made available a new app that gives Android device owners access to totally free apps worth tens of thousands of dollars. Amazon Underground, which must be side-loaded directly from Amazon's web site, provides users with free versions of games and other apps that typically include fees of some sort.
