Motorola today announced that it has acquired Aloqa for an undisclosed amount. Aloaq, which is based in Germany, develops technology that helps with location-based services. Aloqa's software can take advantage of a handset user's location, identity, or social relationships to reach for and deliver locally relevant information, such as nearby events. Motorola said that it will use Aloqa's technology in its Motoblur service. With Aloqa as a part of Motoblur, Motorola believes its Android handsets will better deliver more relevant information to end users based on their location. Aloqa will be folded into Motorola Mobility.
