Dell Confirms Streak Launching August 13 for $299

Dell today announced that the Streak Android tablet device will be available for pre-register starting Thursday, August 12, and will go on sale starting Friday, August 13. The Streak will cost $299 on contract, or $549 without. The Streak has a 5-inch display, 5 megapixel camera, 1GHx processor, 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. It will ship with Android 1.6, but Dell says that the Streak will be updated to Android 2.2 later this year.

What's up now

BB Torch, Sony Xperia, Dell Streak... who needs the iPhone anyways. And we had exclusive on it for just long enough for it to become just another contender. Our network is had become a beast, we're pacing to be the #1 customer base carrier again...it's over baby. Suck it VZW.
AT&T has always had the best phones on their network- they've had Sony Ericssons when Verizon had LG's or UTStarcoms. They had the Bold when VZW had the Storm, etc.

But the Torch, XPeria, and Streak are all landfill fodder next to the iPhone 4. To...

Check Consumer Reports this year and see whats up.

New phones or not...your network is still third rate and still sucks. I have never been so happy to get rid of AT&T and switch to a compan...

Android 1.6??

That's kind of stupid. Why not put 2.1 on? Unless it gets rooted, there are apps that won't work with it.

Why not just toss Win 98 on while they're at it?

One would figure that a monster phone like this would have the newest operating system but I guess not.

While ambiguously, at least it is mentioned that an upgrade is on the way. Unlike a certain Sony phone...

--regarding the Streak, and it actually fits in your pocket. Probably uncomfortable when you sit, but hey, it actually fits in your pocket.

i love my hd2 with huge 4.3 screen.
but this garbage is weight 220gram?
that is almost half a pound of steak!
try holding 2 phone in your hand and see how comfortable is that!

This is fishy

Check the link....already reviews on the phone...and they sound "made up" did dell pre-maturily put reviews up that they would normally but up the day of release to help stir sales? HMMMM u decide!
