AT&T announced that due to unprecedented demand for the iPhone 4, it is suspending pre-orders. According to AT&T, it received 10 times as many pre-order requests for the iPhone 4 yesterday as it did for the iPhone 3GS a year ago. An AT&T spokesperson told Phone Scoop, "Given this unprecedented demand and our current expectations for our iPhone 4 inventory levels when the device is available June 24, were suspending pre-ordering today in order to fulfill the orders we’ve already received. The availability of additional inventory will determine if we can resume taking pre-orders." AT&T didn't indicate when that might be. Apple also issued a statement, and said, "Yesterday Apple and its carrier partners took pre-orders for more than 600,000 of Apple's new iPhone 4. It was the largest number of pre-orders Apple has ever taken in a single day and was far higher than we anticipated, resulting in many order and approval system malfunctions. Many customers were turned away or abandoned the process in frustration. We apologize to everyone who encountered difficulties, and hope that they will try again or visit an Apple or carrier store once the iPhone 4 is in stock."

SUCKERS.........

🤣
I don't own an iphone nor am I likely to ever own one, but I am curious about it so I click on the article link. Somehow there are others who also do not own iphones and never will, but they have to insult those who choose to buy iphones for some rea...

Brainwashed?

Why are there so many preorders for this phone when we have so many options for better phones now on better networks?
good question. I mean, Apple has had 3 years to show how horrible their phone is... how can they possibly still be selling these things? Everyone I know hates the thing, they always get returned, last year they sold 3 million of the things and all 3 m...

You know...

Some people get the iPhone because they actually like the phone. Personally, I like the capabilities it has. I had the orig. iPhone and loved being able to do everything with it without having to figure out a complicated OS. It was my first PDA style phone, I had stayed away from things like blackberries and all that because I had no clue what I was doing with them, but I never had any of that "300 menus to do one thing" stuff I'd seen with some of the earlier blackberries and the like.

Hate on the phone and users all you want, but there are those of us who aren't "sheep" and actually enjoy using the phone. I don't know anyone who keeps upgrading to the iPhone and grumbling about how much it sucks, so obviously the users aren't sheep desp...

I don't think the sheep comments are for people who buy the Phone becasue it is a good tool. I think the sheep comments come form hearing the millions of fanboys who claim it is the most inovative product in the world becasue apple says so. This thing...

How can Apple/AT&T not release a statement about the white phone?

I don't understand how Apple or AT&T has not yet released a statement clarifying all the confusion about the white iphone 4 release? What's the hold up, several of us are disappointed, why can't they inform us?

Sources are saying a number of different responses. I've heard:

1) a smaller number of white phones will be available on the day of the launch

2) production issue, they won't be ready until "late summer"

3) won't be ready on day of launch but shortly after

What's the deal?
that white phones are inferior. Not near as cool, and they look smaller.

Just the usual games.

There's a big wave of customers.

Let it die down some

Then release a different color

let it die down some

Lower the price

let it die down some

Make some kind of minor tweak to it

etc....

I really want one but...

I just don't want AT&T. I'm no ceo or top execute that can afford AT&T. I really love the Iphone's OS' design but I don't want to leave Sprint. My only wish would be for Sprint to get the Iphone. I guess I will be forced to get a Android, which is not bad either from what I heard.

I really want the Touch Pro 2 but why would I get that when Microsoft is about to discontinue their OS and come out with Windows phone 7? plus Android moment is nice but I can see it now, because Android is soooo open the apps I would assume crash the phone. Apps interfering with other apps, and causing confliction and thus avoiding the phone to perform up to par with the projected specs and etc. Not apple, I honestly feel thats one of the reason's they are so s...

Honestly, the user experience is about as good, it isn't plagued by the crappiness of Android apps, and it has a fantastic UI.

Everybody knows all of this, it still comes down to people's preference. I don't understand. If you got what works best for you, let others decide what they want. Why does it matter if they still choose the Iphone o...

This might be one of the most visually annoying posts I've ever seen. Couldn't even read it - and I'm an Evo fan!

Nice try though.
I like my iPhone, I would rather stick to that than relearn everything on a new phone..
EVO is a great phone, but if I wanted something like that, I'd get the Dell Streak.
The Iphone is the most amazing phone I have ever owned. The FACT is...once you have used a Iphone for work or for play you quickly realize that there is no other phone. The Iphone is top of the line! As far as coverage goes, AT&T has excellent cove...

I'll explain in a language you'd understand: "BaaaAAAAaaaaa"
Call them sheep all you want. I'm not a fan of apple or at&t but do the math.

600,000 contracts extended in one day.

600,000 x $200 (cheap model)=$120 million

600,000 x $600(cheap model's retail price)=$360 million
