Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha recently said that the company plans to bring a handset to market by the end of the year powered by a 2GHz processor. Motorola spokesperson Juli Burda has confirmed for Phone Scoop that this is indeed fact, and the company will introduce a handset with a 2GHz processor in board later this year. Neither Jha nor Burda provided any more information about the device. Many of today's high-end smartphones are powered by 1GHz chips, with some of them coming from Qualcomm. Qualcomm has publicly announced plans to introduce 1.5GHz Snapdragon processors (SnapDragon dual-core QSD8672, for example), but hasn't said anything about 2GHz processors yet.

Wow!

Seems like the 1GHZ processor came out fairly recently and now 2GHZ? Dang, these phones are getting faster than my home PC 😳
Reminds me of when we used to put NOS boosted GS-R engines in beater Honda Civics. The car platform may not have been capable of much but it sure was fast πŸ™‚

Overkill Much?

A phone with a 2 GHz Dual Core Processor might outperform some Netbooks!

Now if they could jam DDR3 1600 and a GeForce GT 240 GPU in there, we will have a phone that can keep up with midrange laptops today! πŸ˜›
You'd pay alot more for it than you would the laptop too. It would be the perfect little device for those people that have way to much money to waste on small, overpowered, electronic devices.

Battery life?

What is this going to do to bettaery life? Are we going to see a new type of battery with this?
This title might be a bit more appropriate - battery death.

We need something but more than likely look to charge your phone every day for sure if we get 2Ghz processors, expect better games to do this.

They'll manage to screw it up somehow and have fail and POS written all over it. Ive had too many let downs by mot0 to invest in another one.

it'll be even worse than the i1 phone that has like 3.5 hours talk time.

they are wasting their time with a faster processor, when they can make a phone that can top all the other phones, a bigger screen and faster processor doesn't mean a thing w...
