Motorola and Research In Motion today issued a joint announcement stating that the two companies have ended all litigation between them. The settlement of numerous lawsuits also includes a cross-licensing agreement for various technologies, such as 2G, 3G, 4G, 802.11 and wireless email. According to the press release, Motorola and RIM will also transfer certain patents to each other. The terms were kept confidential, though Motorola did say it is receiving an up-front payment and on-going royalties from RIM.

Hmmmm........

Could this mean a merger is possible? Just curious. It seems odd that these two entities suddenly shake hands and start to exchange features with one another. Motorola has been trying to play catch up after a huge market share loss.

Any thoughts? 😕
Not a chance, in my opinion.

but, you never know...
