Samsung Says Galaxy S Launching in U.S. Later this Year

Today Samsung launched the Android-powered Galaxy S with over 100 network operators across Europe. The version that went on sale today in European countries includes quad-band GSM/EDGE and tri-band 900/1900/2100MHZ HSDPA and is not compatible with U.S. 3G networks. Samsung, however, committed to launching the Galaxy S in the U.S. later this year. Samsung didn't say how it would alter spectrum support of the Galaxy S to become compatible with U.S. 3G networks. It would work with AT&T if it added 850MHz, or with T-Mobile if it added AWS 1700MHz.

this is incorrect! this euro version WILL works on ATT 3G 1900umts band! (if ATT uses 1900umts 3G in your area!).
i using Acer neotouch with 1900 HSDPA, it works perfectly fine on ATT 3G! (san francisco/oakland area)

That's a pretty crazy phone. I wonder how it will compare to the Nexus One. Any facts/opinions anyone? I'm in the market for a new Android device. Still rockin the jailbroken G1. It's been very good to me.
