AdMob and Google Officially Tie the Knot

Google has completed its acquisition of mobile advertising company AdMob. The company says mobile search ads will be central to its advertising business moving forward.
Google Maps to Host Ads In the Form of 'Promoted Pins'
Google today said it plans to place advertisements in Google Maps on mobile devices. The change is meant to help Google's business customers promote their own businesses to people who search through Google Maps.
Google Chrome may Block Obnoxious Ads
Google is planning to add a limited ad-blocking feature to its Chrome browser for both mobile and desktop platforms, according to the Wall Street Journal. The feature would only block the most obnoxious ads, such as pop-ups, those that auto-play sound, and overlays with a timer before you can view content.
BlackBerry to Kill Off Advertising Business
BlackBerry today said its BlackBerry Advertising Service will reach its end of life on June 16, 2015, after which the servers will be disabled and the APIs will no longer work. BlackBerry launched the service to help developers generate ad-based revenue via mobile applications.
Yahoo and Microsoft Change Up Search Partnership
Yahoo and Microsoft today have altered the terms of their search partnership moving forward. According to Yahoo, the agreement gives it more flexibility when it comes to its search business on desktop and mobile platforms, though Yahoo will still place Bing ads in its desktop search traffic.
Google Image Search Gains Badges to Help Classify Results
Google today added a new tool to image search that should help clarify what type of content is available within the individual search results. Moving forward, people will begin to see small badges in the bottom left corner of image results that indicate what's behind the image.
