I am glad to see a hot phone for iDEN.

But personally, I am sticking with my i365 because that phone is tough and gets the job done.

I have had CDMA, GSM, TDMA, and now iDEN and in terms of voice quality, I prefer iDEN.

I don't hate Spring. It's my favorite season and you're right, anybody who hates spring is a dummy.

I'm not against Sprint in any way, but Android on a 2G phone is downright stupid. I blame Motorola.

SMS Messaging

If you look at the Motorola link then click on the Fact Sheet, it lists both MMS and SMS as messaging features on this phone. Wonder if this handset will finally support true SMS somehow on Nextel's network? ๐Ÿคจ

WiDEN

Why did Sprint stop deploying it anyway? Wasn't it supposed to deliver close to CDMA 1x speeds? It's slow but at least it's better than regular iDEN data speeds.

If Sprint insists on keeping iDEN they could at the very least reinstate WiDEN. .

If anyone else realizes...

this really will IMO help boost/nextel but especially boost increase sales. Android phone will be nice, this would be the first phone worth getting for me on iden if I had boost.
Honestly this might be a sweet phone. I only wish they would make this or any of these phones Hybrid sporting CDMA/iDen. That factor would propel this phones and boost the value of Sprint/Nextel. ๐Ÿ™‚

No WiMAX

Does anybody else feel like this Android phone will be hindered by lack of access to a 3g network? It will require WiFi for any real internet connection speed... Oh, hello there, slow app downloads!
lol it's an iDEN phone. It's not even going to have 3G.

because even

construction workers need to update their facebook on the job.
It's a very cool phone. I rather wait for them to make one with a wimax chip tho.

Mikey likes it....

I like how Mike Rowe is the new face of rugged Motorola iDen hardware! This phone will do extremely well I guarantee.....the only saving grace as far as smart phone capability goes is the WIFI. I don't care how fast your Opera browser is on WIDEN. They are touting this as a business device with Microsoft Office document capabilities. Try emailing or downloading an attached document.....better yet..try sending a picture as an MMS or attached to an email....forget about construction workers wanting this and having to take of their gloves all the time and typing with thumbs the size of my big toe!
It's really funny, because the same construction workers/contractors who complain that the rugged i580/i680 is too frail also ask if there will be a touchscreen iDEN phone.

What are they thinking?

I want

I want tough phone like that. Why aren't all phone able to take on some wind, rain, dust, and a little shaking up. I bet Naomi Campbell would love this too since she loves to throw her phones and beat people with them
How much. I bet the price is $399 or more. The i9 was $299 new. I like the fact that they finally realize that the Opera browser works fast on the Iden network. It looks like Opera 5 is the default browser.
