Motorola Revises Droid Update Timeline

Earlier this week, Motorola's official Facebook page posted information on a planned update for the Droid. That posting indicated that the Droid woud be updated over the air with Android version 2.1 "this week." Motorola has now stepped back from that statement, indicating that it was premature. Motorola said to PhoneScoop in an email, "The Droid over-the-air software upgrade is expected to rollout soon. It will automatically be pushed to phones when ready and Verizon Wireless customers will only have to accept the free download for continued use and enjoyment of this feature packed device."

ROOTING!!!!

meno....send me a personal message if you would..
You can seach 'Sholes' in Market to bring up Sholesmod to load some 2.1 features on your Droid and Root it. Great part for me is removing the "Car Mode". I use the Droid car holder and actually for me, hated having to back out of the Car mode. So no...

Also-ran devices get lower priority

Told y'all so, and future updates are only going to be more lagged!

Once again, totally befuddled at how much you seem to be lost blue, I know your an IPhonite, but even you cant deny that android or more specifically DROID spells the end of Iphones easy go at being # 1, the first step to recovery is admitting theres ...

REALLY?

This is the biggest bunch of BS that Motorola, Google and Verizon can do. They did it with the BB Storm 1 and now they are doing it with the droid. We pay all this money to have to best phones and other capabilities, yet they hinder us with simple software issues. If I sold a product like this, I would be fired from my job. WHAT A JOKE!
The storm 1 was held up for years.

They said that the 2.1 update was coming in Q1 2010, that means they have until march until they are "held up."

Plus, if you read reviews of 2.1, most of the changes are eye candy (the browser/gallery being the...

for some reason I'm not the least bit surprised

Maybe people made enough of a stink about not having the features that they expected that Moto is reworking the update. Well damn those people, I was completely content with the update details that leaked out. Rooting sounds more and more enticing as all this bs from Moto unfolds. 🙄
Remember that Google finally opened up Multi-touch for native apps. This was after the moto update was supposedly in "final" stages. I agree that the initial release was kinda disappointing (the new app menu is really nice)

But yeah, if it takes t...
