During it's recent earnings call, Microsoft CFO Peter Klein said, "On the mobile side, our strategy remains the same. As we've been saying from a product perspective, we're working very hard on the next version of Windows Mobile. As Bill indicated, we'll be talking more about that in Barcelona in a few weeks." Microsoft typically holds a press conference during Mobile World Congress, which takes place in Barcelona in mid-February.

6.5?

Are they just skipping 6.5 together then since only a small group of phones have it?
6.5 was and has been just a carry over to keep Windows mobile name around. Windows 7 has been the big thing for a while. In fact it's going to require a whole new set of hardware that as of now only the HD2 has the hardware specs to support it.
