Google Tweaks Mobile Search Options for iPhone, Android, webOS
Google recently made some filters available on its mobile search products for the Android, iPhone and webOS platforms in the U.S. Now, when performing searches, users can take advantage of drop-down menus that will automatically filter search results into a variety of categories, including forums, and reviews. Users will also be able to narrow their searches based on filters than can sort results posted in the last 24 hours, the last week, or the last year.
Google Search for Android Gains Offline Mode
Google has made it possible for Google Search to work even when the device goes offline. The latest build of Search for Android can store Google searches if a phone loses its network connection.
Yahoo Rejiggers Browser-Based Search for iPhone
Yahoo says it has tweaked how it presents results to people who search from the iPhone's browser. iPhone owners who have Yahoo set as their default search engine will now see cleaner search results that display more data and make it easier to drill down into specifics.
Google Adds Captions to Image Search Results
Google today said it is now providing more information in image search results. When people perform searches using Google Images, they'll see new captions that include the title of the web page where the result is published.
Google to Surface iOS App Content in Search Results
Google today enabled a new functionality that will let the Google Search app find content within iOS apps and include that data in search results. Users will then be able to select the search results and go directly to the associated app on their phone.
