Borders to Offer Free Wi-Fi at 500 Stores
Today Borders said that it plans to offer free Wi-Fi hotspot access to devices such as laptops and smartphones at 500 of its retail locations. Verizon Communications is said to be providing the Wi-Fi service.
T-Mobile Makes It Free to Roam In Canada and Mexico
T-Mobile today announced Mobile Without Borders, a new program that lets customers use their T-Mobile line in Canada and Mexico free of roaming charges. Beginning July 15, all calls to, from, and between the U.S., Mexico, and Canada are included at no extra charge.
Sprint Expands Retail Deal with Dixons Carphone to 500 Stores
Sprint today announced a joint venture between it and Dixons Carphone to open 500 Sprint stores around the U.S. The joint venture follows a pilot program the two companies launched last year that saw them test Dixons' best practices in some 20 Sprint stores.
Verizon to Resurrect Unlimited Plan for $80 per Month
Verizon Wireless will on Monday offer unlimited data plans to its customers for the first time since 2011. Verizon's new offer costs $80 per month for a single line with unlimited talk, text, and data; mobile hotspot; calling/texting to Mexico and Canada; and 500 MB of 4G LTE data per day when roaming in Mexico and Canada.
FreedomPop Expands to AT&T's LTE Network
FreedomPop today said it has struck an agreement with AT&T that allows its customers to access AT&T's LTE network. FreedomPop is a WiFi-first carrier that provides unlimited calling and texting from WiFi hotspots and low-cost service when connected to cellular networks.
