Palm Pushes webOS 1.2
Today Palm made version 1.2 of webOS available to users of the Palm Pre. webOS 1.2 offers a wealth of new features that include LinkedIn and more IM platform support for Synergy. Other improvements include the ability to filter emails via inbox, download files from the browser, download Amazon MP3s via Wi-Fi or 3G, pause podcasts, tap-to-call contacts in calendar appointments and cut-and-paste from web pages. The update will also allow users to pay for apps in the Palm Apps Catalog (credit card required). webOS 1.2 is a free update and will be pushed out over the air automatically.

HP is jumping back into phones at a completely unexpected time. HP made quite a few iPAQ Windows smartphones back in the day (2004-2009, to be precise.) Then they bought Palm and infamously drove that into the ground.
Awareness API from Google to Power Contextually Aware Apps
Developers will soon be able to make their apps aware of their surroundings thanks to the new Awareness API. The API can support up to seven different signals at once, including time, location, places, beacons, headphones, activity, and weather, to deliver contextually aware information.

LG today made an open version of the webOS platform available to developers and the public. Anyone can download webOS Open Source Edition from LG's web site and use the the code for whatever they wish.
Several Banks Add Android Pay to Their Own Apps
Google has partnered with a small number of financial institutions in order to ease the process of signing up for Android Pay. Several banks, including Bank of America, Bank of New Zealand, Discover, mBank, and USAA, now let customers add debit/credit cards directly to Android Pay from within the mobile banking app.
webOS 1.2 causes battery drain
Palm, if you're aware of this, DO NOT sit on your hands. Many people will jump to the Hero in a few weeks.

you guys were bitching that the iPhone didnt have copy and paste at launch and the Pre didn't come with copy and paste? hypocrites.
