Palm Pushes webOS 1.2
Today Palm made version 1.2 of webOS available to users of the Palm Pre. webOS 1.2 offers a wealth of new features that include LinkedIn and more IM platform support for Synergy. Other improvements include the ability to filter emails via inbox, download files from the browser, download Amazon MP3s via Wi-Fi or 3G, pause podcasts, tap-to-call contacts in calendar appointments and cut-and-paste from web pages. The update will also allow users to pay for apps in the Palm Apps Catalog (credit card required). webOS 1.2 is a free update and will be pushed out over the air automatically.
Hands On with HP's Elite x3
HP is jumping back into phones at a completely unexpected time. HP made quite a few iPAQ Windows smartphones back in the day (2004-2009, to be precise.) Then they bought Palm and infamously drove that into the ground.
Google Maps and Inbox for Android Improved
Google today provided updates to its Maps and Inbox apps for the Android platform. Inbox works better on tablets, adds compatibility with Android Wear (view messages and notifications, reply via voice), and improves suggestions while users type.
Google's Calendar App Enjoys a Useful Update
Google pushed out an update to its calendar app for Android devices today and added several features requested by users. For example, the calendar now offers a seven-day view and pinch-to-zoom.
Awareness API from Google to Power Contextually Aware Apps
Developers will soon be able to make their apps aware of their surroundings thanks to the new Awareness API. The API can support up to seven different signals at once, including time, location, places, beacons, headphones, activity, and weather, to deliver contextually aware information.
webOS 1.2 causes battery drain
Palm, if you're aware of this, DO NOT sit on your hands. Many people will jump to the Hero in a few weeks.
And still no
