Nokia Siemens Says It Made Its First LTE Call

Today Nokia Siemens Networks said that it successfully completed its first Long Term Evolution call in its Uln, Germany, based labs. According to Nokia Siemens Networks, the call was made using 3GPP Release 8 standards-compliant software and a commercially available base station. Nokia Siemens Networks says this is the first such call completed using commercial hardware. LTE is the next-generation wireless networking technology that many of the world's largest mobile network operators have chosen to deploy, including AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless.
