Verizon Wireless Offers Twitter App to Feature Phones
Today Verizon Wireless announced a new Twitter application called Tweet-Tweet that is compatible with its feature phones. The application allows Twitter users to update their status, as well as view and reply to friends, re-tweet and send direct messages. The application can be downloaded by texting "Tweet" to APPS (2-7-7-7). Tweet-Tweet works with over 60 handsets, including models that run BREW. The application costs $4 for unlimited Tweets, or $1.50 per month.
Twitter @Replies No Longer Count Toward 140-Character Limit
Twitter today improved its service a little bit by cutting @replies from the character limit. Moving forward, when people reply to an individual or to a group, the @username(s) will not count toward the Tweet's 140 characters.

Twitter is planning to expand the scale of tweets far beyond the traditional 140-character limit, reports the Wall Street Journal. The company might permit regular tweets to reach 10,000 characters, which would match the current limit on the number of characters allowed within direct messages.
