New Standard Endorsed For Broadcast To Phones
The GSMA today endorsed IMB (Integrated Mobile Broadcast) as a new 3GPP standard. IMB is designed primarily for broadcast of live TV and other high-volume video content, similar to MediaFLO and DVB-H technologies. It is based in part on WCDMA technology, and includes the ability to hand off a live video stream between unicast over WCDMA and broadcast over IMB. It is designed primarily to work in the mostly unused unpaired TDD radio bands that were auctioned off together with 2100 MHz 3G spectrum in Europe.
Google Home's Broadcast Feature Goes Live
Google today enabled the broadcast feature on Google Home devices in English in the U.S., U.K., Australia, and Canada. Now, people with Google Home devices in their house can broadcast announcements or statements from their phone-based Google Assistant to their Home device.

Instagram Powers Up Live Replays
Instagram today made it possible for people to share their live broadcasts through the Stories tool for up to 24 hours. Once users conclude a live broadcast, they can tap a new "share" button to add a replay of the the live broadcast to their Stories.
