Google Intros Mobile App for S60
Today Google made a new application available specifically for S60 devices. The new application places Google search, Google Maps, Gmail, and other Google mobile services right onto the desktop of S60 phones (or available via a hotkey). It comes with MyLocation services built in, which means (when enabled), the application can provide locally relevant results for search queries. The search tool also remembers user search history, and offers suggestions as users type. The application is a free download.
Google Takes Steps to Ensure Search Results Are Locally Relevant
Google today said it has updated the way it handles queries in Search and Maps when people travel. Moving forward, people will be served search results based on their actual location, not the domain they've indicated on the web (such as .com, .uk, .de, etc.) Google says people using Search in the U.S.
Google Tweaks Search with Fresh Discovery Tools
Google today announced several changes to its core search product that are meant to help people discover fresh content as they perform searches. For example, Featured Snippets are content highlighted by Google to provide "quick, relevant answers" to search queries.
Google to Surface iOS App Content in Search Results
Google today enabled a new functionality that will let the Google Search app find content within iOS apps and include that data in search results. Users will then be able to select the search results and go directly to the associated app on their phone.
Google Search for iOS Adds Related Content Suggestions
Google today updated its mobile search application for iOS devices and made it easier for people to find similar articles or content. Moving forward, a pull-up tab will appear at the bottom of web pages with suggestions for related content.
