Speaking at a technology conference in New York City, AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega said that the company is considering options to offer a more competitive rate plan for iPhone users. He said, "Right now we continue to study what is the best thing that is available, not just from an iPhone point of view, but what you can do to stimulate additional demand." Right now, the minimum monthly fee for the iPhone is about $70, including a voice plan and the $30 unlimited data plan. One option the company is considering is a lower-cost plan that has a limit on the amount of data that can be consumed. AT&T has not made any final decisions yet.

stop insisting that your data plan is unlimited!

why do they declare their data plans is unlimited when the truth is it isn't? isn't that false advertising?

unlimited doesn't give a cap nor block your ways to stream like on a slingbox....
Unlimited doesn't have to be unlimited...

Based on rules and facts you can be degraded to lower network standards which will throw you on slower speeds, making you feel as if you want to give up on it after awhile, therefore butchering your thought...

The key phrasing is unlimited access. No where in any terms of service or any brochures does it say unlimited usage. Technical yes, legal yes, shady yes.

Has anyone been charged for domestic data on an iPhone when they had the $30.00 data plan?...

How about allowing pay by the kb?

Had I known that I could unlock the iPhone and take it to T-Mobile, that's exactly what I would've done.

I'm paying $20-per-month for a service I don't use.
Last time I checked, there were still more Blackberries and other data phones sold by ATT than the Iphone. How about a break for those people?
...
Because you would be paying more than 20 a month if you went for pay per use even if you never used the internet side of the phone (application active connections)
...
How about just allowing ALL carriers to offer the iPhone and see how fast AT$T scrambles to kiss their collective asses then?
How about only charging people for the data they use and then capping the meter once it reaches the amount for unlimited? Yoigo in Spain does this.

Charging flat out per-kb is ridiculous- unless the rate was insanely low, most people would wind up ...

Why not just sell the data part seperate?

Instead of trying to lock down people to an iPhone... why don't they try to expand their business to the iPod's/Zune's/etc... with WiFi support? Allow people to use all their WiFi devices at hot spots thru one user account that has a data plan. You get a bucket of data transfer that you can use as you like across any device you have?

If i had the option to share a fixed amount of data traffic across various device's... i would hop on that bandwagon. Screw this B.S. fake unlimited data plan with overages, If i can setup a pre-paid plan which can track how much i use to the instant i use it... you bet that AT&T plans can do the same in their billing on my normal account. So that i should never have an overage or crazy $25,000 cell phone bil...

All your above suggestions make too much sense.
That's why you could never work for AT&T.
🤣 🤣 🤣
