Today Verizon Communications announced that it plans to divest its wireline operations in 14 states. The mostly rural regions will be merged with Frontier Communications' wireline operations. Frontier will gain approximately 11,000 Verizon employees. The deal is valued at $8.6 billion and includes a combination of stock and cash renumerations to Verizon. The move is a strategic one, as Verizon Communications is re-focusing its business on wireless, broadband and global IP services.

Northern New England was Divested

VZ Divested all wireline service in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont last year. They pulled out in a hurry and left the market to a crap company called Fair Point.

Wired Phone service is becomeing old skool if you ask me. I only have a wired phone so I can get DSL. I never use it and dont even know what the number is.
I'd say to get rid of dsl and get cable internet!!
