MediaFLO Expands Footprint to 19 More Markets
Today Qualcomm announced that its MediaFLO mobile TV service is now available in 19 more markets. In addition to the expansion to markets such as Atlantic City, N.J.; Greensboro, N.C. and Wilmington, Del., Qualcomm also said that a large handful of other markets will see enhanced coverage and service. Qualcomm's MediaFLO footprint now covers some 68 markets across the U.S., and is available via AT&T and Verizon Wireless. This most recent expansion has been made possible by those TV stations who've switched away from analog to digital broadcasting.

Verizon Wireless today marked the one-year anniversary of its XLTE service by expanding coverage to six additional markets. XLTE is now available in Marshalltown, Iowa; Madisonville and Owensboro, Ky.; Traverse City, Mich.; Meridian, Miss.; and Martinsville, Va.

Sprint today launched LTE service in 24 new markets and Spark service in an additional 24 markets. The company's LTE footprint now reaches 270 million POPs, while its Spark footprint reaches 125 million POPs.
Verizon Plans to Use 5G for Residential Broadband In 2018
Verizon Wireless today said it will launch 5G service next year in up to five markets around the country. Rather than provide wireless service, however, the 5G will be offered to residential customers as an alternative to copper or fiber for in-home broadband.
