Obama Makes Genachowski Nomination Official
President Barack Obama has nominated Julius Genachowski to be the next chairman of the Federal Communications Commission. Genachowski had previously been listed by Obama as a potential nominee. Once approved by Congress, Genachowski will take the reigns from acting chairman, Michael Copps. Obama will also have to nominate a republican to replace former commissioner Deborah Taylor, who left the FCC in December.

FCC: Still Work to Do to Free Up More Spectrum
FCC Commissioner Tom Wheeler underscored the need to find and free up more spectrum in a recent meeting with the Obama Administration. Wheeler met with Lawrence Strickling, the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information, to discuss the FCC's progress in finding 500 megahertz of spectrum for wireless broadband.
