T-Mobile, Nokia to Tie Up Content Stores
Nokia and T-Mobile announced a co-promotion plan that will let consumers search for widgets, applications and other content from each other's mobile stores. This means end users can browse and download widgets from both the T-Mobile widget gallery and Nokia's Ovi Store using T-Mobile's web'n'walk widget platform. The new marketplace will support Series 40 phones and should be available in the second half of 2009.
Powermat Charging Stations May Soon Require App
Powermat today announced a new "mobile engagement platform" that will allow public charging station providers such as Starbucks to push marketing directly to phones via an app. Companies that choose to deploy the new platform will be able to require users to download and install the app before their phones will charge.
Google Search App for iPhone Gains a Home Screen Widget
Google today updated its main Search application for the iPhone and added a widget for the home screen. Technically, iOS doesn't support true home screen widgets other than those in the notification panel.

Google today said people should see AMP'd content appear most prominently in mobile search. Google kicked of AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages Project) last year with the goal of improving web page load times on the mobile web.
Microsoft Hands Off Nokia Phone App Store to Opera
Microsoft today announced that Opera Software will soon provide the default app store for older Nokia handsets. Beginning in the first quarter of 2015, the Opera Mobile Store will replace the Nokia Store on devices running the Series 40, Series 60, Symbian, Asha, and Nokia X operating systems.
