Nokia Updates Maps 3.0 Beta
The new beta version of Nokia maps will support devices running S60 Feature Pack 1, including handsets such as the N95 and E71. Maps 3.0 beta brings support for map rotation; a number of additional shortcut keys; better 2D/3D support with terrain and satellite integration; and the My Places has a option "Point me to" for any saved places/landmarks, and will point you the direction to that place on the map. The start-up sequence takes you to your current position as soon as your position is found. If it can't locate you within a few seconds, it will take you to your last known position. The beta software is a free download via the Nokia Maps Updater, which requires the use of a PC.
Android Users Can Now Beta Test Google Maps
Google has rolled out a program that allows people to test beta versions of Google Maps. The betas will be published via the Google Play Store, similar to how Google distributes other a few other beta apps.
Google Maps Now Available Offline
Google today said Maps can now be used without an active internet connection. People can download maps for cities, counties, and even entire countries so routing and basic navigation tools will function when there's a poor connection or no connection at all.
Apple Releases iOS 10 Developer Beta 2
Apple today made a second beta version of iOS 10 available to developers. According to Apple, the new beta contains bug fixes and other improvements.
Google Adds Shareable Lists to Maps
Google today made it easier to keep track of and share favorite spots thanks to a new list tool in Google Maps. Maps users can take advantage of pre-set list categories, such as Want to Go or Favorites, as well as create their own.
