Broadcom Develops Wireless Drivers Specifically for Android
Today Broadcom announced that it has created a new type of combination wireless chip driver that supports the Android platform. Broadcom's drivers combine the ability to control Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and an FM radio that are located on a single chip. Right now, Android's drivers support these radios individually, but not on one piece of silicon. Broadcom's BCM4325 drivers will be added to the Android platform so it will support combination wireless chips in future devices.
Broadcom Is Once Again a US Company
Broadcom says its repatriation process is complete, and it has moved the company's legal home from Singapore to Delaware. Broadcom announced its intent to move back to the U.S.
Broadcom to Cut Up to 1,900 Jobs
Broadcom Limited said it plans to reduce its headcount by about 1,900 jobs. The cuts will be made across Broadcom's global facilities and the company expects to take a charge of $650 million to cover the cost of the cuts.

Qualcomm warned investors that two of its most important customers have threatened to take their business elsewhere should Qualcomm be acquired by Broadcom. Qualcomm didn't name the customers, but said together they contribute a combined $1 billion in chip revenue.
Broadcom Lowers Offer for Qualcomm, Qualcomm Says No Way
Broadcom revised its offer to acquire Qualcomm downward by $3 per share after Qualcomm increased its own bid to buy NXP Semiconductors. Broadcom said, "Qualcomm's board acted against the best interests of its stockholders by unilaterally transferring excessive value to NXP's activist stockholders." Broadcom would have preferred to see Qualcomm act together with Broadcom to broker the right deal for NXP while still allowing Broadcom to move forward with its own offer to buy Qualcomm.
