A CDMA version of Palm's Treo Pro briefly appeared for sale on Sprint's web site today. The phone appears mostly identical to the GSM version already announced, including support for WiFi, GPS, and a memory card. It supports most Sprint services, including Sprint TV, Music Store, Mobile Sync, and picture messaging. Other features include a QWERTY keyboard, 320x320-pixel display, Windows Mobile Pro 6.1, speaker-independent voice dialing, and 2-megapixel camera with video capture. Sprint has since pulled the Web page with details regarding the Treo Pro. Sprint will sell the Treo Pro at some undetermined date in the future for $249 after rebate and instant savings, with 2-year contract, or $549 full price.

what's taking AT&T so long...

... to start selling a branded GSM version? I've used the unbranded one from Palm for some time now and it works quite well on the network.

It's yet another Windows Mobile touchscreen phone, with features that don't differentiate nearly enough to justify carrying it. There's already 3 touchscreen WM phones, a few more non touchscreen, and a dozen more Blackberries & other smartphones.

Is it just me or...

Does it seem like several companies "accidentally" release products on their website and then retract them, as if they're trying to get a buzz out there about the product? Seems kinda fishy to me...
Actually Sprint fully intended to launch it this weekend but with inventory arriving slow and a big training push underway they pushed to 2/15.

This is really annoying

It seems to me that Sprint and Dan Hesse have a long way to go before they can actually say they "cleaned house". Who is the damn idiot purchaser that decided that Sprint should carry the 800W, and why on earth does he/she still have a damn job?! Its one of many terrible decisions made in regards to recruiting new handsets to draw customers, and worse still, its new and its gonna sit on the shelf collecting dust when the Pre is launched, much like the Centro and Centro Refresh do now. Did we really need 4-5 different Palm phones rotting away in inventory at the same time(Treo 700wx, Treo 755, Treo Centro, Treo Centro Refresh, Treo 800w), while hyping the best thing since sliced iPhones about to be released for Sprint from none other than P...

I think many people haven't been happy with Palm for a while now. They have been sidetracked to say the least.

Look at Verizons site too...The Treo 700wx, the Centro and until very recently the 700P were on there!

Hopefully Palm will start clean...

Stop gap for the Pre?

I wonder how many of these they will sell after the Pre is released in a few months?
some business customers will still purchase this phone. Alot of corporations IT departments only work with windows based phones.

Launching 2/15 now...

Pretty much official, a little birdy told me that every Sprint employee received an e-mail today that states this specifically.

I am guessing this was done because of inventory levels that aren't there yet and a big training push to get employees up to speed on it.
