Discover Card Offers Mobile Account Management
Credit card provider Discover Card has launched a new mobile Web site that allows cardholders to make payments, view recent transactions, view recent and pending payments, and view rewards activity. The site can be accessed for free by any mobile device that has a Web browser. Users must have a Discover.com username and password, which must be created via a standard Web browser first.
Google Testing Hands Free Mobile Payments
Google today announced a new pilot program that will allow people to pay for goods and services without taking their phone out of their pocket. Hands Free Payments relies on location data, WiFi, Bluetooth beacons, and other sensors to detect nearby participating stores.
Facebook Brings 'Trending' View to Mobile
Facebook today said moving forward it will be easier for people to explore stories from different sources because it is bringing its Trending view to mobile devices. Uses who check the Trending tab will see conversations organized in up to five different sections.
Discover Jumps Aboard Apple Pay Wagon
Discover today said cardholders will soon be able to add their Discover-backed cards to Apple Pay on the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and Apple Watch for making mobile payments. Discover operates a payment network much like those of MasterCard and Visa, which have supported Apple Pay from launch.
Android Pay to Support Payments via Google Assistant
Google this week rolled out the Google Payment API, a new set of capabilities that will allow anyone to make in-app or online payments with any debit or credit card associated with their Google account. Google says this option will simplify the process for people to checkout and make purchases online, as it negates the need to fill out cumbersome purchasing forms.
