After Protests, E-Wave Anti-Radiation Chip Pulled
Last week, Omega Pharma announced a new chip that it claimed countered some negative affects created by cell phone radiation. After the announcement, the scientific community protested the chip and its supposed benefits. Omega has decided to pull the chip from store shelves and re-perform some of the tests to verify its claims and will share the results as soon as they are available. Omega didn't say whether or not the chip would again be offered for sale.
Samsung Forges Bio-Processor for Wearables
Samsung is taking direct aim at the wearable market with a new processor custom-designed to monitor health and fitness data. The Bio-Processor combines Analog Front Ends (AFEs), a micro controller, a power management integrated circuit, a digital signal processor, and an eFlash memory chip into a single module.
Huawei Takes Aim at Snapdragon 810 with Kirin 950
Huawei today announced the Kirin 950 chipset for phones, which is designed to compete with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800-series chipsets in higher-end phones. Huawei claims that the 950 is 25% faster and 44% more power-efficient than the Snapdragon 810, Qualcomm's current flagship chip.

Qualcomm does not plan to sell off its mobile chip business, according to Executive Chairman Paul Jacobs. Investors have been putting pressure on Qualcomm to spin off the unit, which one called "worthless." Some would prefer that Qualcomm operate strictly as a patent-licensing business.
