once again reps get the shaft

now if we wanna compete with walmart were gonna have to do an override, that means we won't get our proper pay for the equiptment and most people won't even bother anyways and get it from walmart, way to go T, this was supposed to "get us over the top in our quotas and do big things for us as front line sales associates" kinda hard when some high school kid who reaks of stridex pads and a cracking voice tells bill joe jim bob roy this phone will replace your computer and cook you brunch on sundays
lmao nice one. But true, they don't get paid commision, or even a bonus, just minimum wage, so what incentive does he have to work harder than he has to?

I'm a consumer not a rep I have an idea if your able to do this. Accessories are absolute rip offs at cell phone stores, example $30 frinkin dollars for a BB Curve charger, so I suggest you tack on a 25% discount on accessories the same day a customer...

I'd still wouldn't buy it there.

Wal-mart has some of the most ill-inform reps in the industry. G1 is going to require training and teaching people how to use it.

No offense to the people working there but they have cashiers running the stand, not reps. Most Wal-mart customers still end up coming to my store to get the phone because they know they can get the support they need here.
You are very correct. But I would still get the phone at walmart just to save a few bucks. lol.
...
Well, since I don't require training to use a smartphone from an employee (can learn much more from a manual, forums, or just simply going through the features myself), if I was interested in buying a G1 I would buy it there long before T-Mobile.

Let Me Get This Straight?!?!?!

First thing is first.

With a raise of hands, how many people have purchased an i phone at Wally World? Yea, I didn’t think so. The reason the Iphone is so revered is due to its limitations in the way of how one could receive the device. in order to get the device one must go to a direct at&t dealer and then purchase a phone package that fits into the requirements.

the problem i have is not with the people that sell the phones or the service people will get when they purchase them, instead the problem I have is that this was supposed to be "our turn" (in a whiney tone). the G1 (or G unit as I call it) was supposed to be t-mobiles version of the i phone, the most decorated and desired device for young adults. instead t mobile ...

well put sir, well put
I agree 100% with this post. If only the big wigs @ tmobile did.
Do the homework before you rant... Walmarts in non-3G markets won't have the G1 either. Had to turn 4 people away the other day since someone on the local news thought it'd be a good idea to tell everyone the G1 would be at walmart, forgetting to ment...

Leave it to Wal-mart to bring the price down

Not bad 😎
Yeah but when you sell phones to feed your family it kinda pisses you off. 👿

Walmart + Google = Successful Product

You can say what you want about Walmart, but they are masters of product distribution. So if you have a (new) great product and want to make it disperse it over a large geographic area quickly, then why look any further than Walmart. Once the G1's start selling quickly ---which they will, it will lead to a price war with Apple in which the consumer is the primary beneficiery 😁 . If that doesn't sound good, i don't know what does.

Android Wal-Mart Marketing and Economy...

Historically, Wal-Mart has always maintained a fairly stable position in sales than anyone else during tough times and I think this move is intended to take advantage of this success. Wal-mart is awesome at executing great marketing practices by way of continuous TV and Radio ads and Pricing. However I am in favor of the Reps at corporate and retail stores level in the fact that this indeed is not fair. I don't believe selling a phone as complex as this with all the features, should be put into the hands of just anyone to demonstrate the capabilities. But I have also been in corporate stores where I know more about the product than the salesperson. However, I do feel the TMO sales people would be better equipped for questions and answers on ...

T-mobile is so dumb!

Why wouldn't T-Mobile think of putting in a clause for in-directs saying they could not sell the G1 for less than $180 like AT&T did with the iphone. What kind of company shoots themselves in the foot by putting their corp stores at a disadvantage. I think this was a very dumb move on their behalf and not well thought out. I am ANGRY! 😡

Imagine all the people going to walmart during the christmas season....

🤣

ok, so Like a lot of you, I'm in the indirect channel for a multi-carrier dealer... and I know that it's frustrating to see the customers come in with the "i want the walmart price with the _______ (fill in the blank with your store name here) customer service.
Fact is these days people don't want to pay money for phones, especially the contracted ones anymore. But for all of us in that industry, may I remind you of two things.. all the "less then intellectuals" that will stand in a mile long cell phone line, and the "pimply kid that doesn't know how to activate worth a crap"..
Just imagine it, doesn't it make you want to crack up laughing? At least come up with a silver lining to that cloud!
Plus, honestly,...
