Access recently announced its next-generation mobile operating system, which is based on Linux. Access ALP 3.0 and ALP Mini are two separate mobile phone platforms. ALP 3.0 is a more robust platform for smartphones and features highly detailed visuals, smooth transitions and animations. It is compliant with LiMo mobile Linux specifications. ALP Mini is a stripped down version that is geared more toward feature phones. ALP Mini is available to interested handset manufacturers immediately, but Access has not provided an availability date for ALP 3.0. ALP 3.0 was developed by the same team that created Palm's Garnet OS.
