Verizon to Use Spectrum Winnings for LTE

Verizon Wireless said that it will use its 700 MHz spectrum winnings from Auction 73 to deploy its 4G Long Term Evolution network. The winnings increase Verizon's spectrum depth from an average of 52 MHz to 82 MHz. Verizon Wireless plans to launch its LTE network in the 700 MHz spectrum in the 2010 timeframe.

LTE 2 yrs???

That is a pritty bold claim for a technology which has yet to be deployed any where. no one can even show that it will work.
CDMA EVDO to LTE handoffs have already been performed, if I recall correctly.

It is Long Term Evolution for a reason it will take a long time and they will change the product a bunch before it actually hits the scene. Verizon is not going to release a product that is not at the top of the line. Not to mention Verizon is predo...

sprint 4g......

wow sprint will have 4g end of this year, beginning of next....other carriers will be hurting with a start 2 years behind sprint!!! 🤤
Assuming they're not going to

a) Declare bankruptcy
b) Be forced to sell of Xohm as a separate company
c) Have enough funding to actually have more than a few hot spots.

forgive me if i sound like a tech NOOB but are LTE phns gonna use a sim card? i hope they do cuz i like the portability from phn 2 phn

no more google rumors!

I'm SO glad google was outbid on this.
Google never really wanted the Spectrum they just wanted someone to buy it. Yes, they did put bids in, but they also countered there own bids to make sure the price it was going at would be more profitable to the FCC. This forced the others interested...
