T9 Nav is a new application that uses T9 to automatically search the contents of a mobile device for practically anything. Rather than forcing users to open applications before performing searches, you can type in your search query on the home screen and it pulls up all the relevant items in contacts, settings, calendar, bookmarks, media, and, applications. This makes finding information on your phone much quicker. There is one-month trial version available now, and the full version will be available by the end of the second quarter.

new 12 yrs. ago

you are right davidemm this not new. it was done a dozen yrs. ago.it was central to the newton operating system that was in the apple messagepad. the search was focused on the task not the application. it's unfortunate the messagepad was so ahead of it's time. not only was the search feature already there but the handwriting recognition(95% accurate) still has no equal.

Is this supposed to be new?

I can already do this on my Samsung u540. You just type numbers on the home screen and press the up key to search contacts using t9 and the down key to search menus/settings. It works really well and doesn't use an application. You just have to enable "quick search" under "phone settings." Is what's new about this just that it can search for more?
