Verizon Wireless Buys SureWest Assets
Verizon Wireless agreed to purchased wireless assets from SureWest Communications in northern California for $69 million. Verizon will acquire SureWest's network assets and spectrum licenses in Sacramento, covering about 3.8 million people. The deal is expected to be finalized during the second quarter. Once it is, Verizon will take on SureWest's 50,000 customers.
Verizon and T-Mobile Agree to $173M Spectrum Swap
Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile have agreed to exchange AWS-1 and PCS spectrum in dozens of markets around the country in a deal valued at $173 million. The spectrum in question covers portions of Arkansas, California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Verizon Picks Up XO's Fiber Network to Beef Up Backhaul
Verizon Communications today said it has agreed to acquire XO Communications' fiber business for $1.8 billion. The deal, says Verizon, will help it serve its enterprise and wholesale customers, as well as allow Verizon to further densify its cellular network.

Verizon Communications today said it has finalized its purchase of Yahoo. Now that the deal is complete, Verizon is merging its Yahoo and AOL assets into a new media company called Oath.
Uber Buys Some of Microsoft's Bing Assets
Uber has agreed to acquire about 100 engineers and other assets from Microsoft's Bing product. Specifically, Uber will take possession of Bing's "product image collection activities," according to TechCrunch.
