Sprint has stopped shipping the LG Rumor to its retail stores and halted sales of the phone while it works on fixing an error with the phone's firmware. A debugging menu, meant for engineers, was left active in the firmware. The menu can accidentally be accessed by users when navigating to the main menu or dialing phone numbers. Once activated, the debugging menu automatically wipes the phone. Phones that have been wiped need to be sent back to the factory to have the firmware reinstalled. LG is working to update the firmware and prevent access to the debugging menu. LG and Sprint will offer the new firmware over the air to existing customers and will resume sales of the Rumor once the new firmware has been installed.
I am so sorry. I never did like this phone. I love phones but this thing is hideous and I thought it was a horrible attempt at a voyager or iphone reincarnation. This is just my opinion. I am sure it is not shared. I don't mean to hurt anyone. But the phone is lack luster to me that is it. I am so sorry.
Just to give haters a reason to poke at me, I have Verizon Voyager and have not had Sprint in a while. Let the rants begin!!!!
The razr is nice. Also the Beyonce' phone is okay. lol Happy New Year.
Just when every customer I get wants an LG rumor. Most of the time every customer that bought a phone from me everyday wants an LG rumor and now this freaking problem comes out. Getting your phone erased would be a disaster and now I've got to get ready for those angry customers wanting their LG rumors replaced. The phone is really good as long as you don't press the self-destruct button then you're fine. I recall selling about 70-90 pcs of these phones for the last 2 months and those customer will be an angry mob ready to press that eject button from Sprint.
Verizon Wireless and LG are very good friends. Makes me wonder if this was intended to happen to Sprint so they could loose customers and VZW have a shot on gaining some customers.. Just something that came to my mind.
Very good conspiracy theory! LG and VZN are so much in bed together, it makes you wonder why LG would want to work with any carrier. To make things worst, LG has some seriously bad management at certain levels, so I really cannot see them and Sprint... (continues)
I don't think it is that. I think Sprint has some 90 year old man sitting in some basement picking the worst possible phones to add to their network. Sprint has better and faster access and uses Java, but Verizon keeps getting better phones. It's jus... (continues)
