AT&T Completes Dobson Acquisition

AT&T has completed its purchase of Dobson Communications and will begin transitioning the former Cellular One network to AT&T next month. Merging the two networks will extend AT&T's home network in many rural areas. However AT&T was forced to give up 6 rural markets in Kentucky, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Texas in order to complete the sale. On December 9 most Dobson stores will offer AT&T handsets and rate plans, but current Dobson Cellular One subscribers will be able to keep their current rate plans and service.

CellularOne & AT&T Wireless - Good Acquisition for Customers

For those CellularOne customers (Dobson Cellular), AT&T is allowing customers to keep their current AT&T rate plans (something AT&T has not normally done with prior acquisitions). In certain markets where DOBSON has offered their Nationwide Unlimited Plan ($99.95 per month, unlimited use throughout United States) and Statewide Unlimited Plan ($50.00 per month, unlimited use in TX/LA for calls from and to Texas), its expected AT&T may change its $50.00 Unlimited Statewide Plan after a customer's contract ends.
