FCC Delays 700 MHz Auction, Sets Final Rules In Place

The FCC has set a new date, January 24, 2008, as the new date for the 700 MHz auction, a delay of eight days. Along with the delay, the FCC has also published the final set of rules for bidders. It has retained the open access provision to the C block spectrum, and has decided to give bidding discounts to smaller companies. Companies interested in bidding must register for licenses between November 19 and December 3. There are 1,099 licenses up for auction, and the reserve price for the auction is $4.63 billion.
