Samsung SDI is working with technology partner Clairvoyante to develop a WVGA OLED screen that can be used in handheld electronics, such as mobile phones. OLEDs are currently limited to QVGA (240 x 320) resolution. WVGA measures 480 x 800 pixels, and the first panel made by Samsung SDI has a 3-inch diagonal. The technology from Clairvoyante has helped Samsung SDI overcome some technical hurdles that had prevented the WVGA screens from being developed. The WVGA OLEDs will be thinner, more viewable, and more power efficient than a similar sized LCD.
