Nokia Adds Local Search Capability to Phones

Nokia signed an agreement with mobile search company Cgogo, and will embed Cgogo search modules in all future S60 phones. These modules will enable users to find more relevant and localized mobile search results from their phones. Users of S60 phones without the module may download a plug-in that will simulate the module's search capabilities. The plug-in download is free.
Yahoo Improves Search In Mobile Browsers
Yahoo today said it has refreshed how it displays mobile search results in a way that will help people find what they're looking for quicker. Yahoo explains that rather than offer lists of links, the new search presents results — including images, videos, news, and other details — prominently in a way that's more useful.
Google Adds Actual Games to Mobile Search
Google today made several simple games available to play directly in search results. Performing a search for solitaire will bring up a playable version of the card game.
Google to Surface iOS App Content in Search Results
Google today enabled a new functionality that will let the Google Search app find content within iOS apps and include that data in search results. Users will then be able to select the search results and go directly to the associated app on their phone.
Bing for iPhone Let's You Search via Pictures
Microsoft has updated its Bing search application for the iPhone and added the ability to search for images captured by the camera. The tool, similar to Google Goggles, lets users take a picture and then use the picture to perform a search.
Google Search Boosts Music, Movie, TV Results
Google has improved Google Search to include more details about artists, actors, movies, and television shows. Now, when people search for particular musicians or bands, each result will point towards events, albums, and songs, as well as links to apps where the artist's tracks are available.
