Two Nokia Handsets Hurdle FCC

The FCC recently approved two new handsets from Nokia, including an 8GB version of the N95 and the first 3G Nokia for T-Mobile in the U.S. No carriers have announced plans to carry either phone.

N95 8GB: This update of the N95 boosts the capacity of the internal memory from 4GB via card to 8GB internal. Most other specs remain similar, including its quad-band GSM/EDGE and 2100 MHz 3G radios. It also brings over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Its appearance has changed a bit, though, and it includes a piano black finish and the keys are a bit smaller than the original version.

6263: The 6263 is a U.S. variant of the 6267 flip. It has quad-band GSM/EDGE radios as well as AWS 1700 MHz WCDMA. This will make it T-Mobile's first 3G phone from Nokia. Features that it will likely carry over from the 6267 are stereo Bluetooth, microSD slot, FM radio and 2 megapixel camera.

T-Mobile Maps its Expanded High-Speed 5G Coverage

As T-Mobile continues to expand its 5G network, PCMag reports that the company has updated its coverage maps to differentiate between its faster "Ultra Capacity" 5G and its slower but more widely-available "Extended Range" 5G. T-Mobile's 5G Ultra Capacity network uses a mid-band frequency (2.5 GHz, AKA band 41, which was inherited from Sprint) that offers faster data speeds than most sub-6 GHz 5G, and much better coverage than mmWave 5G.

A new "new" N95...?

This is different from the other new N95 that was just announced, right? The US N95 that doesn't have the shutter lens, I mean. Because doesn't that one have 850/1900 UMTS?

If that's the case it means there are essentially three versions of the N95.

And they obviously made an 8gb version to directly compete against the iPhone...I wonder what the cost will be.

I would like to know where this announcement was made of a US 3G version of the N95. I would be very interested in this phone if it supported US 3G.

No US version of the N95 has been announced to date. There are rumors... that's it.

It seems nice but I would like to see a US version of the 6290. Personally, when I go 3G with T-Mo I want to do so rockin' Symbian.
