This latest update to the Bluetooth standard includes numerous enhancements for better performance and increased security. The single biggest improvement will be simplified pairing, cutting down the number of steps required to pair two devices. Users will be able to simply turn on the two Bluetooth devices they'd like to pair, and they will automatically find one another and pair. Simplified security is also part of this new standard. Users will no longer have to key in a long passcode for encryption. Encrypted communications between devices will happen automatically. Lastly, Bluetooth v 2.1 includes better power management, and will extend battery life.

For as popular as Bluetooth is becoming...

...this is the new update? It doesn't seem to be much better? I dunno, guess we gotta wait and see, but all I really want is longer range and quicker transfer speeds, all the other stuff is trivial...
but, when you get what you want, there will be no battery life and it will need a DC power connection =P

This sound good on paper but...

your still going to have issues of people stealing information off of your cell phone if bluetooth is on and your name is broadcasted. With haveing a lite security that automatically pairs devices, why won't people be able to hack your for more easily?
Edit: why won't people be able to hack your phone more easily?
