The FCC has revealed a second Chinese produced handset for MetroPCS, this one from ZTE. The ZTE C88 is a mid-level feature phone that runs CDMA 1x. This black clamshell has an internal antenna and bears a slight resemblance to the Motorola RAZR when closed. It includes two color displays and has a Electroluminescent (EL) backlit keypad. The C88 also has a camera, stereo Bluetooth, USB for data transfer, and speakerphone.

Metro Branded phones

Hey everyone,

Just to give a little insight into the new handset manufactures. Metro is trying to brand it own line of unique handsets. Yes they are made in China, but so are every phone in the market.

Both these companies have been selling phones for years in Europe. Having these two companies enter the market will make companies like nokia and Motorola not only step up and offer more model to Metro customers. But also better pricing.

This is a win-win situation for Metro customers and the company.
Exactly. Bravo!!!

Chinese knock off??

I love the statement "it looks like a Mot Razr when closed" OF COURSE IT DOES! These companies make a fortune trying to knock off the most popular brands in the world! What happens when they break, do I have to ship them to Xiamen China for repair?
I guess that would be no different than shipping it off to South Korea or Japan...but we all go through the carrier anyway.

And dont kid yourself. The motorola RAZR is manufactured in China along with everything else 😁

Why is there such an uproah over a Chinese product in the us?

are we that xenophobic and so narrowminded to products comming over from china, i swear pple misjudge them and new products that come over from china before they even have a chance to try them. i bet if there was a german manufactured phone or a french manufactured phone comming to metro, it wouldnt be much of an uproar, but god forbid it has to come from china, there would be much of a bigger uproar if a phone came from a developed african nation,

give china a chance!!!
xenophobic? narrowminded? can't you see what China is making? Craps(brake easily, cheap materials etc)! Clones(Copys)! Knock-offs!

People are not hating China for nothing, nor they're Jealous of them(heck no!).
Chinese have lost faith of customer...

Is this a joke or something?

Are MetroPCS and the FCC playing a joke on us? Two Chinese handsets, form two different companies, both entering the US market, all at the same time. Seems a little fishy to me.
...they are actually chinese spy phones to tap the unknowning masses. shhhhhh.

or it could just be that a couple chinese vendors are trying to enter the market, and metropcs knowing they can get these no-name chinese brands on the cheap, without sa...

Dont knock it till you try it...

Yes this phone is obviously a rip of the razr but...

Alot of people have gripes about the razr, and while this will probably not be much better at least its an alternative. The proposed system looks pretty generic, but at least its fairly feature rich.

1.VGA Camera
2.MicroSD Slot
3.Bluetooth
4.Speakerphone
5.Color external display
6.Thin design

These are all good features, and more importantly, standard features people want in a cell phone. But the proof is in the pudding so i guess we can wait and see if and when it comes out.
