VideoLAN this week updated its open-source VLC media player with a significant number of new features. VLC version 3.0 adds support for Chromecast, which lets people push video from their handset to any device that can receive casted content. Other additions include support for 360-degree video and 3D sound playback, HDMI passthrough, HDR quality video, a handful of new codes, and much more. VLC 3.0 is available for a variety of mobile and desktop platforms, including Android and iOS. The app is free to download from the Google Play Store and the iTunes App Store.
