Google Enables HDR Streaming from Play Store
Google today made it possible to stream 4K movies in HDR from the Play Store to the Chromecast Ultra. In order to view HDR content, people will need an HDR-compatible TV, a Chromecast Ultra, and an HDR movie. HDR content has a wider range of brightness and color when compared to normal content.
Google's Chromecast Ultra Supports HDR and 4K Video
Google today revealed the Chromecast Ultra, a new version of its home video HDMI dongle. Like last year's Chromecast, the Cromecast Ultra plugs directly into the HDMI port of television sets and allows people to cast content from their smartphones and tablets to their TVs.
Chrome to Support HDR Video Playback
Google today provided an update on the progress it has made with the Chrome browser over the last year and offered a peek at some features that will arrive later this year. To start, Chrome now supports play/pause, rewind, and fast forward controls for audio and video.
VLC Video Player Adds Chromecast, HDR, 360-Degree Video
VideoLAN this week updated its open-source VLC media player with a significant number of new features. VLC version 3.0 adds support for Chromecast, which lets people push video from their handset to any device that can receive casted content.
Essential Phone Makes More Improvements to Its Camera
Essential Products today pushed an update to the camera application for the Essential Phone. The update "adds Auto-HDR, a new HDR algorithm that improves camera performance and scene rendering, dynamic HDR and Flash indicators, and various stability fixes," said Essential Products through its Twitter account.
