Sony Ericsson Product Launch 2004

Intro S700 K700 Z500 T637 & T237 Comments  20

Live report from the unveiling of five new phones by Sony Ericsson in NYC: the S700, K700, Z500, T637, and T237.

Sony Ericsson today launched five new GSM phones, including two new global flagship models, and three models specifically for the Americas.

Like most manufacturers, Sony Ericsson is focused squarely on camera phones. The three big camera trends for 2004 - video recording, flash, and megapixel sensor - are all represented in the new lineup.

One way Sony Ericsson is trying to stand out from the crowd is emphasizing landscape mode for taking pictures. In other words, the phones are meant to be held "sideways" when taking photos, which feels more like taking a photo with a standalone digital camera. Both the physical design and interface are designed around this idea. Sony Ericsson is quick to point out that the back of its camera phones now look more like cameras than phones.

Two other major new trends for this year - Push-To-Talk and EDGE - are also represented in the new lineup. The new Z500 includes both.

no support for cingular?

why aren't they making their phones compatible with the soon to be largest wireless carrier? Take the p900 for example...I may not be able to buy it because it is a tri band and cingular may switch entirely to the 850 band..or so I'm told.
Stay tuned...All I can say is that there is no way that the third largest carrier in the world (i think, after they finish bying AWS) will not be ignored.
...
They will after the merger completely takes place. They have no choice if they want to make money! 😁

why do they do this

They always do this why does sony/ericsson always make the phones look the same, not even fashionable.
I've always thought Sony/Ericsson phones to be stylish in an industrial sense...but will they address the reception problem? I've never known a Sony/Ericsson phone to have good reception...something keeping me from buying one.
...
I'm sorry. Even if everyone is getting bad reception of the t610 or any sony phone they are not unstylish. I have received more complements on my t68i and t610 than any other phones i've had. I would buy any of these new phones if they were availab...
