Microsoft today announced a new partnership with Luna Mobile, which has agreed to license Microsoft's technology patents for mobile devices. Luna has committed to launching 5 different smartphones this year, ranging in price from $139 to $459. Luna Mobile did not provide any details about the handsets in question, such as what operating system they might run and where they might be sold. The company has several manufacturing partners lined up in China. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Microsoft did say it will receive royalties from Luna. Microsoft has similar patent-licensing agreements with many other phone makers.
