Senators Diane Feinstein of California and Richard Burr of North Carolina have circulated a revised draft of the Compliance with Court Orders Act of 2016. The bill would require tech companies to "provide in a timely manner responsive, intelligible information or data, or appropriate technical assistance to obtain such information or data." If passed into law, it would largely negate the benefits of using encryption on mobile devices, which are meant to protect personal information. Many organizations oppose the legislations, calling it a threat to privacy. The Electronic Frontier Foundation said it will fight the measure in court. Senator Ron Wyden from Oregon will fight it, too. "If this dangerous anti-encryption legislation reaches the Senate floor, I will filibuster it. Period," he said on his official Twitter account. Still in draft form, the bill has yet to be officially submitted to Congress for consideration.

Interesting

I am a Libertarian. I find it interesting that a bill sponsored by a Democrat, Diane Feinstein and a Republican, Richard Burr draws backlash against Obama. You do realize that the Senate is controlled by Republicans, yes? They are the other side of the hypocrite coin from the Democrats. Spare me your sanctimonious mewling about Obama. We all realize that it was Republicans AND Democrats who sponsored the Patriot Act. Both parties want to restrict our Liberty. This bill will doubtless pass with bipartisan support.
While I agree with you wholeheartedly, you certainly didn't take the op's post the same way I did. As I see it, he was railing against both Congress and the President (more or less the government as a whole) at the same time for their incessant and in...

Encryptin Bill

The government imports Jihad terrorists into the US, then punishes all Americans as a result of their behavior. Obama wants to let in hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, many of which will be terrorists, and then when they go around shooting up the place, watch congress and president try to ban the 2nd Amendment more than ever. But hey, it's a small price to pay for political correctness. Our government is actually bringing in the terrorists and then taking away our rights as a result-like in this bill.
I agree wholeheartedly. Leave it to the fascist Dumbocrats to attack our freedom at every turn.
