Qualcomm Intros 802.11ad 60 GHz WiFi for Phones
Qualcomm and Letv today announced the first phone with the Snapdragon 820 and Wi-Fi 802.11ad, which operates in the very high-frequency 60 GHz radio band. The Letv Le Max Pro also includes Qualcomm's Sense ID ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Qualcomm's 802.11ad solution for phones includes the Snapdragon 820 SoC and QCA9500 Wi-Fi chip. The new standard and frequency band enable very fast (multi-gigabit) wireless data within the same room, such as 4K video streaming and screen mirroring.

Huawei Takes Aim at Snapdragon 810 with Kirin 950
Huawei today announced the Kirin 950 chipset for phones, which is designed to compete with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800-series chipsets in higher-end phones. Huawei claims that the 950 is 25% faster and 44% more power-efficient than the Snapdragon 810, Qualcomm's current flagship chip.
Qualcomm's X12 Modem to Supercharge Snapdragon 820
Qualcomm today confirmed that its Snapdragon 820 processor will be equipped with the company's X12 LTE modem. The X12, announced in passing earlier this year, is Qualcomm's most advanced wireless radio module.
